This is the first image of (hopefully) a new series of work.
The piece seems rooted in a desire to seek out, embrace, and embody perfection.
I select and present images with feelings akin to the act of buying – consuming – goods, conscious my choices reflect a painterly approach.
In a recent discussion with Helen Carter at Point + Line we discussed the need for a gap within an art work for personal contemplation and reflection to take place. I’m concerned that the gap between what this art work currently gives and my intentions is too small, resulting in insufficient room for manoeuvre for the spectator.
It feels like a strong starting position but offers no resolution as yet.
